Chuck Varga, GWAR’s Sexecutioner, Dead At 68

GWAR founding member Chuck Vargo, known as Sexecutioner, has passed away. Varga was battling cancer; the band set up a blood donation campaign in April and then launched a fundraiser in June to help Varga and his wife Bambi pay for medical bills. His death was announced on Sept. 25 by GWAR bassist Casey Orr aka Beefcake The Mighty. Varga was 68. Orr's announcement of Vargo's death reads:Chuck Varga has left this earthly realm. He passed peacefully, his beloved wife Bambi holding his hand. He was one of a kind. As an artist, as a performer; as a scholar and a gentleman. I’m better for having known him and the world is lesser for his leaving. He is most likely being welcomed into Valhalla right now by Brockie and Smooty and all who went before. Hail Sexicutioner!Varga was a key member of GWAR during the band’s breakthrough years from 1986 to 1996, later returning periodically through 2022. Born in 1958, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where he met Hunter Jackson. Together, they created The Slave Pit, a creative space that eventually helped inspire GWAR. After gaining popularity in Richmond, GWAR developed a nationwide following and received two Grammy nominations. Varga left the band in 1997 and moved to New York to pursue film, television, and Broadway opportunities before founding Hyperreal Productions.
