Well Go USA Entertainment has set a wide theatrical release across the U.S. and Canada for “Dear You,” the Teochew-dialect phenomenon from director Lan Hongchun, with the company unveiling a clip ahead of the Sept. 4 opening. The film will open at locations across North America, including AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Harkins, Cineplex, Landmark and SilverCity venues. Markets include New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Chicago, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Seattle, Washington D.C., Boston, Phoenix, Miami, Las Vegas, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary and Edmonton, among others. “Dear You” stars Li Sitong, Wang Yantong, Wu Shaoqing, Zheng Runqi and Wang Xiaohui, with special appearances by Zhao Shuguang, Li Deru, Li Shuhao and Usha Seamkhum, known to North American audiences from “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies.” Popular on Variety The film follows a debt-ridden grandson who travels to Thailand to find the grandfather he believes abandoned their family, hoping the man behind years of qiaopi letters and remittances can help pay his debts. What he uncovers instead is a lifelong act of love and sacrifice rooted in the traditions of overseas Chinese communities. Produced by King Ant Pictures, Beijing Damai Entertainment Culture, Rongde Holding Group and Lichun Pictures, the film has earned a 9.3 rating from 890,000 users on Douban and a local box office of some RMB2 billion ($297.6 million), making it one of China’s highest-grossing films of 2026. The North America release extends a global theatrical rollout that has already taken in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei, with the U.K., France, Ireland, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand among the markets on the international schedule. The film was at the New York Asian Film Festival, where it played as the closing night film and its North American premiere, and has picked up the Special Jury Honor at the China Movie Channel Media Awards 2026 and Best Asian Art Film of the Year at the Asian Art Film Festival.
