Chelsea loan watch: Reggie Walsh has rare off-day after stunning start and Benoit Badiashile’s struggles continue

CHELSEA experienced a disappointing defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, losing 2-1. But in brighter news, the Blues have an army of players out on loan and some of them are getting on well at their new clubs. His most recent performance was a brilliant display as Strasbourg demolished Troyes 6-2. His side conceded the first goal in the game but he made two tackles and two interceptions as his side won to move sixth in Ligue 1. Sign up for the Football newsletter Thank you! Benoit Badiashile The central defender played a disastrous 10 minutes from the bench for Napoli as Massimiliano Allegri’s side succumbed to a 3-2 defeat to Inter Milan. When Badiashile came on Napoli were winning 2-1, but he was beaten in the air by Marcus Thuram for Inter’s equaliser and failed to regain his composure before the Serie A champions scored a stoppage time winner. Axel Disasi Disasi has been rotating around the London clubs, and is now plying his trade at Crystal Palace. He played 90 minutes as Palace beat Fulham 3-2 and thoroughly impressed, while his two centre-back partners were disappointing. Dario Essugo Essugo plays with Antwi at Strasbourg, and despite only coming off the bench in the second half against Troyes, he managed an assist in the 6-2 rout. Essugo provided legs in midfield and his performance even had some Chelsea fans calling for the club to recall him. He has been at the club for a month and played four times, but is yet to fully shine. Filip Jorgensen One half of Chelsea’s goalkeeping chuckle brothers last season, Jorgensen has also been shipped to Strasbourg. He has had a strong start to the season, and was solid in the 6-2 win over Troyes. Ryan Kavuma-McQueen Just 17 years old, Kavuma-McQueen is flourishing at Portsmouth and won over the fans already. He suffered a double fracture on his right hand last week, and could have opted for surgery, but has chosen to play with a splint on. He has only made five appearances, but scored his first goal in a 3-1 win over Lincoln and his dribbling ability and directness are earning him plenty of admirers. Max Merrick The young goalkeeper is making a major impression at Hartlepool, where he has made five appearances and kept three clean sheets. Shim Mheuka Mheuka is still very much getting his feet under the table at Celtic, and has only played 22 minutes since joining the club. He came on for seven minutes in the 2-1 win over St Mirren. After almost two years out of the game, the Ukranian is a long way away from winning football’s most coveted individual prize, but Spurs fans will be hoping he can recreate his impact under De Zerbi at Shakhtar Donetsk. The 25-year-old played 16 minutes against Nottingham Forest. Harrison Murray-Campbell Murray-Campbell is playing in Belgium’s first division with KV Kortrijk, and has started two games for the club. He is impressing, although his side have lost both of those games. Dujuan Richards Playing alongside Ollie Harrison at Wimbledon, Richards is yet to appear for his new club. Ishe Samuels-Smith Samuels-Smith joined Notts County last month, but has only played 34 minutes over three games. He played 16 minutes in the 1-1 draw against Huddersfield over the weekend. Robert Sanchez The second half, and front man, of the goalkeeping chuckle brothers, Sanchez was finally shipped off after one mistake too many against Fulham. After three years of poor mistakes and inconsistent performances, Xabi Alonso was finally the man to say enough is enough, and demand a better shot-stopper. Sanchez is now playing for Cesc Fabregas’s Como, and was on the bench for his first game. Mamadou Sarr Sarr is on loan at Real Sociedad, and has been on the bench for both games he has been available for. Dastan Satpaev Striker Satpaev is playing for Burnley in the Championship, and despite not scoring, had impressed fans in his four games so far. He missed the loss against Bristol City at the weekend, though, and has unfortunately picked up a hamstring injury. He is expected to be out of action for a number of weeks. He is more than standing out in League One, with one Wigan fan on X saying: “We’re winning the lot. Reggie Walsh is genuinely the best player League One has ever seen.” He played 45 minutes over the weekend, as Wigan lost 4-0 to Stockport County. Caleb Wiley Full-back Wiley is at Preston North-End, and scored a goal on his debut against Bristol City. He started and put in a robust performance over the weekend as Preston beat Blackburn 2-1. Kaiden Wilson Wilson is playing for Rochdale in League Two, and has played the most games for his new club of any of Chelsea’s loanees. Wilson has made six appearnces, and impressed at centre-back. He played the full 90 as Rochdale lost 4-1 to Gillingham this weekend. Kiano Dyer The 19-year-old is at Chesterfield and only played 10 minutes from the bench as his side drew 3-3 with Barnet in League Two.
