Turns out he may now have a taste for it, as Cox has confirmed he has been secretly working on a second video game to add to his acting portfolio, and it isn’t an Expedition 33 sequel. Charlie Cox Has A Big Role In A Sega Game We Don't Know About Speaking to Cox at New York Comic-Con, IGN told the actor that they’d love to see him appear in more video games. That’s when Cox seized the opportunity to tell the world that his second video game credit is already in the works, and this time he is working with Sega. “I did another one,” Cox confirmed, quickly adding, “It doesn’t have a name yet. I did a Sega one. It hasn’t come out yet. It was hard to do. It’s a whole different job. I had to do, like, 40 hours, or whatever it was.” That 40 hours figure is particularly telling considering how much work Cox claims he did when recording lines for Gustave in Expedition 33. Sandfall’s hit debut game blew up to levels of popularity no one could have possibly imagined, shining a light on Cox’s performance that the actor didn’t expect. It was during that aftermath that Cox admitted he felt like a bit of a fraud, having never really played video games, and only spending four hours in the booth recording Gustave’s lines. That means whatever Cox has been working on with Sega, the character he plays has roughly ten times as many lines as Gustave did in Expedition 33. The only other clue Cox provided was that the people who hired him didn’t realize he’s British. “They had hopes, they wanted him to be American. Now I’ve got to do 40 hours of lines I’ve not prepared in an accent.” What Sega Game Could It Be? Now the information is out there, the guessing game as to what exactly Cox has been working on with Sega is underway. One popular theory is that Cox has a role in Stranger Than Heaven. The game already has a star-studded cast, and it’s releasing next year, so it makes sense that Cox would have already recorded 40 hours of voice lines for it if he has a starring role. Others have suggested Cox might have a prominent role in Persona 6. Another solid guess, considering how much time the actor would need to spend in the booth for a game of that size. The problem with both of those educated guesses is that Cox claims the game doesn’t have a name yet. He might be covering his tracks, as I imagine he probably wasn’t supposed to bring this up, or maybe he really has recorded 40 hours of voice lines for a Sega game the studio has managed to keep under wraps.
