Charles Leclerc appears to look at Lewis Hamilton and shake his head after Dutch GP blunder

LEWIS HAMILTON appeared to be in the bad books of Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc after a dramatic end to the Dutch Grand Prix. The Formula One stars finished the race at Zandvoort in fourth and fifth, narrowly missing out on a podium behind George Russell despite the Mercedes star being on old hard tyres to the Ferrari duo’s fresh soft tyres. As the pair crossed the line Leclerc was seen pulling up next to the right side of the seven-time world champion. The 28-year-old then looked towards Hamilton’s car and appeared to shake his head. It’s not clear whether the last lap podium chase incident is what prompted the glance or something else. Over the team radio, Hamilton had blasted the team for not making him “lose time” behind Leclerc when he felt he was on quicker tyres. The 41-year-old aired that frustration following the race, saying: “I’m here to win and I really believe that this team can win. “We couldn’t win this race but to win championships you have to pick up every point and the last few races have been difficult with penalties and stuff and then, today, I lost several seconds behind Charles which I think ultimately would have made the difference at the end. My goal is to try and lead this team to the championship and we’ve got some work to do for sure. “But today was definitely frustrating for me.” Leclerc joined Hamilton in expressing his frustration with the Scuderia strategy in Zandvoort. He told Sky Sports: “I didn’t really understand why we had to box so close to George’s pit stop, because that really was kind of signing to finishing behind George. Obviously, Lewis and I were on different strategies at that point, but I felt that what was right was staying a bit longer on the track. “But at the end of the day, it’s the way it is. “I think we got mostly a little bit unlucky with the virtual safety car timing, and most importantly, I don’t think we did a good job yesterday in qualifying, and we paid the price of it by starting further down.” Hamilton’s finish behind Russell saw the 28-year-old move above the Ferrari star into second in the drivers’ championship, level on points but above him due to having more race wins.
