Chargers LT Rashawn Slater is an IR candidate as he will "miss some time"

Published October 5, 2026 07:57 PM The Chargers won’t have left tackle Rashawn Slater for “some time,” coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday.Harbaugh confirmed Slater has a high-ankle sprain in his right foot.Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Slater is expected to miss 4-6 weeks, making the two-time Pro Bowler an injured- reserve candidate. Harbaugh, though, said the Chargers are still evaluating the prospect of IR. Slater missed all of the 2025 season with a torn patellar tendon and a torn biceps took him out of most of the 2022 season.Right tackle Joe Alt is still undergoing evaluation of a neck injury, Harbaugh said. If Alt can play, the Chargers could move him to left tackle and have rookie Travis Burke play right tackle.Safety Derwin James (hamstring) is week-to-week, and wide receiver Ladd McConkey (foot) and cornerback Donte Jackson (hamstring) are day to day. Tight end Charlie Kolar (forearm), defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson (hamstring), wide receiver Brenen Thompson and left guard Kayode Awosika (fibula) are making good progress.
