And yet, just a month later, it has been dethroned. Chandler Riggs, who played Carl in The Walking Dead, directed and starred in a 19-minute Resident Evil 7 fan film that was released earlier this week on the RE Biohazard channel, and it has already soared to an average IMDb rating of 8.3 out of 10, the highest in the series. Highest-Rated Resident Evil Movies And TV Shows By IMDb Rating Biohazard — 8.3/10 Resident Evil (2026) — 7.6/10 Resident Evil (2002) — 6.6/10 Biohazard: Damnation / Resident Evil: Degeneration — 6.4/10 Resident Evil: Extinction / Resident Evil: Vendetta — 6.2/10 Resident Evil: Apocalypse — 6.1/10 Resident Evil: Afterlife / Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness — 5.8/10 Resident Evil: Death Island — 5.7/10 Resident Evil: The Final Chapter — 5.5/10 Resident Evil: Retribution — 5.3/10 Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City — 5.2/10 Resident Evil (2022) — 4.2/10 It's a bizarre coincidence that Chandler Riggs and Austin Abrams, who played Ron Anderson in The Walking Dead and shot Carl in the eye, have now starred in two of the highest-rated Resident Evil movies back-to-back. Turns out, dying in The Walking Dead is great for your Resident Evil career. Chandler Riggs Wants To Turn Biohazard And Village Into Official TV Series Following the release of his 19-minute Resident Evil 7 fan film, Chandler Riggs held an AMA on the series' subreddit, where fans wasted little time asking whether he'd be up for adapting more Biohazard or taking on another game entirely. Riggs is clearly passionate enough to say yes, but bankrolling another project out of his own pocket is a much harder sell. "I'd really love to, but the amount of time, resources, and energy it took for this, with so much money out of my own pocket and not being able to make any money back on it, makes it tough to justify doing it again," Riggs said. That doesn't mean he's ruling out an official adaptation, though. "If Constantin ever wanted to expand this in any way in an official capacity, of course I'm down." Riggs even has an idea of how he'd approach it, suggesting that Resident Evil 7 and Village would work better as a TV series rather than a feature film. "I do feel though that the way to do RE7 and RE8 right would be a 2 season series, something like 6-ish episodes each. It wouldn't need an insane Marvel-level budget to do it right, but RE7 would be really tough to do in a 90-minute film, if you're doing it how I did my short." C'mon Constantin, pick up the phone. You've greenlit far worse; maybe Riggs can help Cregger break the curse.
