CBSE announces special Class 12 exams for students affected by West Asia crisis

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct fresh examinations for Class 12 students in West Asian countries whose 2026 board exams could not be held due to the prevailing situation in the region.In a notification dated September 15, 2026, CBSE said the Class 12 board examinations in 40 subjects — 20 academic and 20 skill subjects — could not be conducted in West Asian countries. The Board had earlier notified an Assessment Scheme on March 27, 2026, under which results of regular candidates from West Asian countries were declared on May 13, 2026. Results of private candidates were also subsequently declared under the same scheme.The Assessment Scheme had provided students dissatisfied with their results an opportunity to appear for examinations in subjects that could not be held.CBSE has now decided to conduct examinations for all eligible Class 12 candidates in West Asian countries whose results were declared under the Assessment Scheme. The fresh examinations will be conducted in the 40 subjects for which the original examinations were cancelled. ELIGIBILITY FOR REGULAR CANDIDATESStudents of CBSE-affiliated schools in West Asian countries whose List of Candidates (LOC) was submitted for the Main Examinations 2026 and whose results were declared under the Assessment Scheme will be eligible.Candidates can appear in subjects of their choice. The result of the fresh examination will be final and will replace their earlier performance. Eligible candidates must submit their LOC personally within the prescribed schedule.ELIGIBILITY FOR PRIVATE CANDIDATESPrivate category students from West Asian countries who submitted their examination forms for the Main Examinations 2026 and whose results were declared under the Assessment Scheme will also be eligible.They can appear in subjects of their choice, and the result of the fresh examination will be final and replace their earlier performance. Candidates must submit their examination forms personally within the prescribed schedule.CBSE CLASS 12 SPECIAL EXAM FORM DATESThe submission window for LOC for regular candidates and examination forms for private candidates is from September 22 to September 26, 2026.CBSE said examination dates and the date sheet will be informed after the LOC and forms are filled. No examination fee will be charged.The examinations will be conducted only in the affected West Asian countries — Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. They will not be conducted in any other country.The examination centres will remain unchanged.Candidates who remained absent during the Main Examinations 2026 for any reason will not be eligible to appear in these examinations. No new regular or private candidate who did not appear in the Main Examinations 2026 will be eligible.No subject change will be permitted, and examinations will not be conducted in subjects already held by the Board. CBSE also said no post-result declaration facilities will be available.The link for submission of LOC and examination forms will be provided on the CBSE website. The Board said strict adherence to the prescribed schedule is mandatory and no extension will be granted.The 40 subjects include History, Hindustani Music Vocal, French, Persian, Hindi Core, Web Application, Financial Market Management, Banking, Insurance, Design, Salesmanship, Library & Information Science, Physical Activity Trainer, Political Science, Urdu Core, Information Technology, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Biology, Business Studies, Food Production, Home Science, Legal Studies, Arabic, Informatics Practices, Computer Science, English Core, Tourism, Health Care, Food Nutrition & Dietetics, Marketing, Multi-Media, Yoga, Early Childhood Care & Education, Business Administration, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.Schools in West Asian countries have been directed to disseminate the notification to all concerned Class 12 candidates and guide them accordingly.- EndsPublished By: Mridusmita DekaPublished On: Sep 23, 2026 09:45 IST
