CBS star hit with sexual harassment allegations in bombshell lawsuit by ex-ABC producer

Showbiz A CBS star has been hit with a bombshell lawsuit accusing him of sexual harassment. The legal filing was made on Friday by a former ABC field producer who says the chief correspondent made “sexualized” comments and ranked the looks of a female counterpart. The bombshell wrongful termination lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles on Friday and it named Gutman, ABC News and parent company The Walt Disney Co. Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! Said claims there were two assignments the pair worked together during which Gutman made inappropriate sexual comments. In one instance, Gutman allegedly started discussing and ranking the appearance of a female correspondent while they were waiting in line during an assignment with a group of male colleagues. read more on entertainment Gutman allegedly “initiated a discussion rating a female correspondent’s appearance and reducing her professional standing to a numerical score based on her physical attributes.” The fellow crew members who were all men allegedly joined the conversation and tried to get Said to take part which she refused to do, telling them it was inappropriate, the lawsuit claims. In a second alleged incident, Gutman was working with Said to cover a movie release and the pair disagreed about if they should leave the work site. Said claims Gutman made a sexualized remark about her in front of male coworkers in which he “insinuated Said must have an after-hours date in the city,” the suit claims. Most read in Entertainment She says these alleged derogatory comments “reduced her professional judgement to a sexualized stereotype.” Said’s lawsuit is more broadly about her termination from ABC in 2025 as she claims she was wrongfully fired while struggling with her mental health with issues largely related to the nature of her job. The accusations against Gutman are part of this wider lawsuit and she is seeking compensatory and punitive damages as well as legal fees. Gutman, who left ABC News after 17 years to go to CBS in January in a bid to boost network ratings has declined to comment. He has recently filled in for CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil who is on vacation, and secured higher ratings. Executives at both CBS News and Disney have declined to comment as they have yet to see Said’s complaint. No comment has yet been issued by ABC. Comment now
