Sign in to your TheGamer account Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse clearly loves Alucard as much as the rest of us, as the iconic dhampir is referenced constantly throughout the game. If you ask anyone what the best Castlevania game of all time is, it’s incredibly likely that they’ll (correctly) say Symphony of the Night. After all, it’s where the brilliant 2D exploration vibes first emerged and not only shaped the rest of the series, but ended up inspiring a whole new genre of games. It’s really that good. SOTN also let us play as Alucard for the first time, which quickly launched Dracula’s son into the stratosphere as one of the most beloved characters in the whole series. Whether they’re your favourite or not, Symphony of the Night and Alucard are both some of the most important pieces of Castlevania’s history, something Belmont’s Curse celebrates with tons of easter eggs. Alucard Has Paintings, A Dedicated Room, A Skin, And A Weapon In Belmont’s Curse Evil Empire Isn’t Even Trying To Hide Its Favourite The first time you’ll see just how much love Belmont’s Curse has for Alucard is when you reach Dracula’s Castle early on in Rose’s quest. If you head over to the Main Hall, you’ll see portraits of Alucard adorning the wall, recreating his look and even pose from the key art of Symphony of the Night. These paintings aren’t just for show, either, as they actually act as a clue that leads you to some hidden areas in the castle. Rose can even interact with one of the paintings to have a conversation about Alucard, where everyone, reluctantly including Medusa, agrees that he’s as handsome as the legends say. I will not get over Rose admitting that something was “roused” in her by Alucard’s portrait. Once you’re a bit further into Belmont’s Curse, you’ll actually be able to visit Alucard’s tower, which has one of the game’s best weapons, Alucard’s Sword and Shield, waiting to be added to Rose’s arsenal. Its attacks are very reminiscent of some of Alucard’s special moves from Symphony of the Night, making it even clearer how highly regarded that game is. Combine all of that with the Alucard Style character skin that’s included as a pre-order bonus, and you simply can’t deny how much Belmont’s Curse reveres everything to do with Symphony of the Night. I guess we know what Evil Empire would say if we asked them what the best Castlevania game was… Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Released October 15, 2026 ESRB Teen / Blood, Mild Suggestive Themes, Violence Developer(s) Evil Empire, Motion Twin Publisher(s) Konami Genre(s) Platformer, Action, Adventure, RPG
