Casio Just Made an Affordable Matcha-Green Watch With Café Kitsuné

This is one of the good ones.The budget-minded Japanese watchmaker has teamed up with Café Kitsuné for a new limited-edition watch inspired by matcha, giving one of its classic analog-digital designs a muted green dial and adding the café brand’s familiar fox logo for good measure.For the uninitiated, Café Kitsuné comes from the same Franco-Japanese universe as fashion label Maison Kitsuné. Founded in 2013, the café business now has more than 30 locations around the world, including Tokyo, Paris, Seoul, and Beijing, and has made matcha almost as central to its identity as coffee.Which explains, you know, the color.Casio.The new AQ-230ECK-3A takes Casio’s familiar small rectangular AQ-230 and gives the dial a matcha-inspired green finish. The Café Kitsuné fox sits above the digital display, while further branding appears both on the case back and the clasp. Even the packaging has been given its own mottled green treatment.Casio.The watch itself keeps the pleasingly odd combination that has made the AQ-230 such an enduring Casio: conventional analog hour and minute hands sharing the dial with a small digital screen below. So you get something that looks vaguely ’70s from a distance, while still offering a bunch of genuinely useful Casio functions, including dual time, stopwatch, daily alarm, calendar, and more.Fashion collaborations can have a habit of taking something inexpensive, putting a logo on it, and adding a zero or two to the price. Not so here: Casio has this one priced it at $120.That's cheaper than your next round of mid-morning beverages at your local café. Possibly.
