Carrot Top’s Las Vegas shows canceled as he receives ‘close medical care’ after alleged suicide attempt

Carrot Top’s upcoming shows have been canceled as he continues to recover from his alleged suicide attempt. The comedian’s long-running show at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas usually runs every day but Sunday, but according to the website, there will be no shows on Monday or Tuesday. The next available date is listed as Sept. 23, though it is unclear if he’ll be back onstage by Wednesday. His Friday and Saturday shows were already called off as he remains hospitalized. Page Six reached out to MGM Resorts, which owns the Luxor Hotel and Casino, for comment about the canceled shows but didn’t immediately hear back. Thompson attempted suicide Friday in the Las Vegas area before being rushed to a local hospital, TMZ previously reported. Authorities were spotted surrounding his Las Vegas home Friday. He is awake and breathing on his own, his rep, Jami Schlicher, told Page Six Sunday. “Scott remains hospitalized and under close medical care,” the statement reads. “He is now awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve, surrounded by his family and those closest to him.” “Humor has always been such an important part of who Scott is and how he connects with people, and that remains true today as he shares moments of humor with the medical staff caring for him,” she continued. Thompson was being extorted over a sex tape prior to the reported suicide attempt according to court documents obtained by Page Six. Ronnie Bitman, the comedian’s attorney, claimed in a Sept. 3 filing in Broward County, Florida, that musician Brian Evans — a previous opening performer for Thompson’s — threatened to leak an X-rated video of his client if he wasn’t paid $500,000 in “immediately available funds.” “Evans demands immediate payment of significant sums and states that, absent immediate payment, a sexually explicit recording of Thompson will be filed in the public court file so that it may be obtained and disseminated by the press and other parties,” Bitman wrote, in part. Getty Images Evans claimed the video “was deleted a long time ago” in accordance with a prior settlement. “I am sorry that Scott apparently did something to hurt himself,” Evans told Page Six Saturday. “He’s a great talent but these are issues he needs to deal with and move past.” He also shared, “Scott is still young and has a big life ahead of him. It’s not my intent to bring this guy down.
