A car carrying a couple drove off a bridge on to the M50 motorway in Dublin on Wednesday afternoon into traffic. The couple, a man and woman aged in their 80s, have been removed from the scene for treatment of serious injuries. No other injuries have been reported.The couple are believed to have been driving from Dublin Airport southbound on the M50 when they exited the motorway at Junction 10, near the Ballymount slip roadGardaí are investigating the circumstances in which they appeared to have driven off the bridge at the Ballymount exit on to the traffic below. READ MOREThe incident happened at about 3.20pm on Wednesday afternoon and involved a car in a single vehicle collision, Gardaí said.The southbound lane of the M50 is currently closed and diversions are in place.The southbound queue of the M50 motorway stretched back to Junction 1 Dublin Airport at rush hour on Wednesday. Gardaí and other emergency services vehicles were on site. The scene is currently held for technical examination, Gardaí said.
