Canada condemns Israel for closing probe into aid worker killings

Canada has condemend Israel for closing its investigation into the killing of seven World Central Kitchen aid workers in Gaza. Israeli strikes hit the charity’s convoy in April 2024, killing Canadian citizen Jacob Flickinger and six colleagues. Foreign Minister Anita Anand described Israel’s decision to end the investigation as “unacceptable” and said the attack involved “serious failures”. “Canada expects international humanitarian law to be upheld and will continue pressing for a full accounting of what happened, along with justice for the seven workers who were killed and their families,” Anand said. The workers were travelling in vehicles bearing the organisation’s logo after coordinating their movements with the Israeli military. The IDF’s decision not to pursue a criminal investigation into the killing of seven World Central Kitchen humanitarian workers, including Jacob Flickinger, a Canadian citizen, is unacceptable.
