In recent weeks, tech leaders have called on the government to help “pace the frontier” of AI by implementing restrictions to slow its unchecked development. But one state is attempting to halt the frontier altogether—at least for now. On Monday, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier asked a judge to temporarily stop OpenAI from developing new models, prevent minors from accessing ChatGPT, and force the AI firm to make drastic changes to its chatbot.
