Burden on parents: Kangana slams X user objecting to her bhog making skills

Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut had a sharp response for an X user who questioned her cooking skills after watching a video of her preparing a Janmashtami offering at home. What began as a festive post from her Manali home soon turned into an online exchange, after the user pointed out what they believed was a mistake in the video.Kangana had shared the video while preparing bhog for Janmashtami. An X user commented that the gas did not appear to be switched on, while the utensil she was using already looked blackened. Kangana noticed the remark and hit back.Watch the video here: Read the comment shared by the X user here: Clarifying what she was actually making, Kangana said the dish was not halwa but bhog. She explained that several ingredients are first prepared separately and then mixed together before the mixture is set and cut into pieces.“This is not halwa, it is bhog. Many ingredients are prepared separately and then all are mixed in this phase, before setting and then cutting it into pieces (sic),” she wrote. Kangana then turned her response towards the user, adding, “Can’t expect cooking skills from people who are a burden on parents and the planet. You focus only on eating, don’t worry about cooking (sic).”Read her reply here:The exchange has now put the spotlight back on Kangana’s social media activity, where she has frequently found herself at the centre of heated conversations.Just weeks earlier, Kangana had sparked controversy over comments about some young Hindu women. She said some of them flaunt freedom without accountability and described them as “generation gutter”. Her remarks drew criticism from yoga guru Swami Ramdev, who said they reflected a “spoilt mind” and urged her political party to take note.Kangana responded in her usual forthright manner, telling Ramdev to take note of his SC case. The apparent feud, however, did not last long. On Raksha Bandhan, Kangana shared a video on her Instagram Stories in which Ramdev spoke about ending their public disagreement and turning it into a conversation. He also said he had a Rakhi gift for her and would call her to wish her on the festival.Kangana later said festivals were a time to forgive mistakes. Agreeing with Ramdev that conversation was better than conflict, she said she accepted the sweets and affection offered by an elder brother and thanked him, while wishing him a long life.Kangana had also recently found herself in another social media controversy after criticising an advertisement featuring Kriti Sanon. In an Instagram post, she questioned the decision to show a woman tying Rakhi to her brother while wearing what she described as “bikini/undergarments”.She pointed out that women today have a wide range of clothing choices, including cocktail dresses, lehenga cholis, jeans, saris, bikinis and salwar kameez, and called the advertisement “intentionally creepy”. The ad was later taken down. For now, it is Kangana’s response to the cooking comment that has caught attention. On the work front, Kangana will reunite with Thalaivii (2021) director AL Vijay for an upcoming pan-India psychological thriller, also starring R Madhavan.- EndsPublished On: Sep 5, 2026 18:39 IST
