Nico Paz scored twice, while Anastasios Douvikas and Jacobo Ramon also found the net. Joshua Zirkzee scored a late consolation.Fernandes, who started as captain before being substituted in the 67th minute, questioned United's tactical approach after the match. Speaking to TNT Sports, he criticised the decision not to press Como man-to-man, arguing that giving the opposition too much possession allowed them to grow in confidence.Asked whether Carrick and his staff had got their tactics wrong, Fernandes said that responsibility rested with the coaching team. He called for greater courage in pressing high and making opponents uncomfortable.Carrick hit back by stressing that tactics could only go so far if players failed to work hard. The United manager said players had to run forward and track back, regardless of the system being used. The exchange added to the scrutiny surrounding United after their second consecutive Champions League defeat sparked controversy over a player's post-match comments. Following the loss to Atletico Madrid, Lisandro Martinez had also voiced frustration over the club's recruitment and singled out technical director Jason Wilcox, later apologising for the way he expressed his views.United now face pressure to turn their form around, with Carrick's tactics and the team's performances under the spotlight ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash against Bournemouth.
