The news has sparked concern from Ashley Smith, the chair of Thornbury Town and District Residents Association, who described the move as a “shame”. More and more houses being built, with less and less infrastructure,” he told the outlet. It will come as a blow to locals in the scenic market town who have had to wave goodbye to a number of popular brands in recent years. That includes Lloyds bank, which shut a branch earlier this year along with a PDSA charity shop. As for Holland & Barrett, the chain already shut a branches in Dorset and Pontefract earlier this month. A spokesperson told Gazette the closures are part of an “ongoing £70 million investment into transforming stores”.
