Brit, 47, found ‘tortured to death’ in Caribbean holiday home – as UK cops launch probe into horror

NewsUK News POLICE in the UK are investigating after a Brit was allegedly found tortured to death in the Caribbean, an inquest heard. Andrew Donald Frederick, 47, was discovered in Grenada on January 4, 2026. His body was brought back to the UK after investigations by the Grenada authorities which ruled it “an accidental death”. The verdict came despite a pathologist, approved by the Royal Grenada police force (RGPF), finding that Andrew had been tortured. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! Senior coroner Lydia Brown today confirmed the Met Police are now investigating his death. She told West London Coroner’s Court: “There was a private family post-mortem from Professor Daisley which stated that the death was homicide.” His case of death in the UK is currently “unascertained” and it is understood that there is ongoing “diplomacy” with the authorities in Grenada, it was said. Ms Brown suspended the inquest pending the outcome of the police probe. Andrew’s family, who attended the hearing, previously called for an urgent review into his death. They referred the case to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, who were provided with the post-mortem from Grenada that found Andrew was tortured. The family said at the time: “We have been unable to grieve properly for Andrew because grief requires a degree of resolution or at least the belief that those with the power to act are acting. “Instead, nearly five months have been spent driving a campaign for justice while carrying the weight of what was done to him. “This includes examining horrific pictures and the knowledge that the organisations that exist precisely to help families in these circumstances have, at every turn, forced us to fight for the most basic engagement. “This is not what grief should look like. It is what institutional failure looks like.” The FCDO previously confirmed it was supporting Andrew’s family and was in contact with the “local authorities”.
