The Delhi Traffic Police and the Delhi Police have been issuing traffic advisories for commuters and the public at large to ease their commute and help manage the security arrangements of the dignitaries attending BRICS 2026. The authorities are urging people to use the metro for the easiest commute.Priority corridors and exemptionsEmergency and medical vehicles like ambulances will be given priority and obstruction-free passage 24/7 across Delhi. Essential services and utilities will also have uninterrupted access.Traffic Rules and ParkingRoadside parking within 200 meters of Controlled Roads is strictly prohibited. Taxis and three-seater vehicles like auto-rickshaws and battery-rickshaws are not allowed to park on the roadside except designated areas due to possible VVIP movement. Rules for residents of controlled areasThe movement of people living in controlled areas will be facilitated as per applicable security arrangements. Residents are urged to carry their valid IDs and address proof and follow police instructions. Will buses be functional?Delhi Transport Corporation(DTC)and City buses will ply as usual, but in affected areas, certain routes will be temporarily diverted, curtailed, and regulated. The routes, entry and termination points of inter-state buses may be changed. Commuters are urged to check the latest advisory and contact their bus operator.Will delivery services like Swiggy, Zomato, and Blinkit be available? They will be available in non-regulated areas, but the movement of delivery persons in controlled and affected areas may be restricted and regulated.What if I have a medical emergency?Medical emergencies will be given priority. The Delhi Traffic Police has requested people with such emergencies to contact the traffic personnel on site immediately, and call the 112 and 1095 helpline numbers immediately.Will taxi services like Ola and Uber ply? Taxis will ply, but their entry, pick-up, and drop-offs might be affected in controlled and restricted areas.Should I rely solely on navigation apps like Google Maps? The Delhi Traffic police advises that one must follow traffic police directions as temporary restrictions may not be immediately visible on navigation apps. What are the rules for commercial vehicles like trucks?Commercial traffic or ‘non-destined’ commercial vehicles are prohibited from entering Delhi during the days of the BRICS Summit.
