A man has been arrested in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district for allegedly killing his friend over their love for the same woman, police said.The accused, identified as Ashish Kol, allegedly murdered 30-year-old Mohammad Israr following a dispute over a woman, with whom both men were purportedly in love.The crime came to light on August 28, when the victim's body was found in a drain. He had been missing for two days. Police said Israr's body bore several injuries, including wounds on his neck, caused by a sharp-edged weapon.His family members and locals blocked a road in protest, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible. According to police, the investigation revealed that Israr and Ashish were both in love with the same woman, leading to a dispute between them.Police suspect that the rivalry over the woman's affection was the motive behind the killing. Investigators said Ashish allegedly took Israr with him and made him consume alcohol. The two later got into an argument, during which the accused allegedly attacked his friend with a sharp-edged weapon. According to the police, Ashish dumped Israr's body in a drain before fleeing the spot.As part of the probe, the police examined the victim's mobile phone, call detail records and other technical evidence.
