Border Force fails to intercept second small boat in 24 hours: Dinghy carrying 30 landed on Kent beach at same time 51 Channel migrants were escorted to the UK

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is under fire over a second 'uncontrolled landing' by migrants on British shores in just two days.Up to 30 migrants reached a Kent beach by small boat on Tuesday before police reached the scene.Officials confirmed 21 people were detained and taken to a Home Office facility, where they will be processed ahead of lodging asylum claims in Britain.It came just a day after up to seven migrants reached another location in Kent without being intercepted by UK Border Force.A Government spokesman said: 'Border Security Command officers alongside Kent police have been responding to an incident in Dover.'21 individuals have already been detained under a swift enforcement response. 'There is a thorough investigation ongoing, and it would be inappropriate to comment further.'The detained migrants have been taken to Western Jet Foil at the Port of Dover for processing, it is understood.Ms Mahmood has ordered an 'urgent review' of the two unescorted landings.The latest incident took place as a record 38-hour voyage by 51 migrants from Normandy was still unfolding.As chaos in the Channel continued today, a packed dinghy was seen leaving from a beach in Hardelot in northern France. Nearby in the town Neufchâtel-Hardelot, journalists found the body of a man in his 20s lying on a beach. Earlier, a taxi boat had been seen leaving with dozens of migrants onbaord. This is morally wrong.'He added: 'We need to leave the European Convention on Human Rights, end benefits and hotels for illegal immigrants and ensure they are deported immediately.'Senior Home Office officials have previously stressed their top priority is to prevent uncontrolled landings because of the risk posed by migrants who vanish into the country on arrival.The latest incident is believed to be the largest such landing since 26 migrants reached Ramsgate beach on a small boat in August 2021.Eyewitnesses said up to 30 people arrived on Samphire Beach between Dover and Folkestone on Tuesday shortly before noon.Video footage showed the occupants making their way up the shingle beach before heading west towards Folkestone.Some of the men can be seen covering their faces with hoods, while others are wearing full-face coverings.According to the eyewitness, police officers arrived and attempted to track the migrants.It is not known how many migrants managed to evade the officers.Anti-migrant activist Daniel Thomas is being investigated for slashing a dinghy in the Channel yesterday 'I was walking along to take photos of the cliffs and noticed them arriving,' said the witness.'Some did their best to run furthest to the Folkestone way'There was a woman who had a harder time walking on the beach. The police turned up and tried to track those men.'The latest incident took place on the same day defence minister Luke Pollard said in a radio interview: 'Our borders are secure.'It comes as police continue to investigate the activist 'Danny Tommo' after he livestreamed himself slashing a dinghy while a rescuer was still onboard. The convicted criminal turned anti-migrant campaigner - real name Daniel Thomas - had been shadowing small boats as they left France towards British shores. Footage shows Thomas – who was jailed in 2016 for an attempted kidnapping – bringing his boat alongside a dinghy after the migrants had been moved on to a lifeboat. Seconds later, a French rescuer stepped onto the empty dinghy to secure it, before the activist sliced through one side of it.'You're on English territory. This is England, this is not France any more,' he told the rescuer. He then shouted at the Frenchman to get off the dinghy and return to his own boat.
