Bob Dylan Announces 39-CD Rolling Thunder Revue Box Set With 371 Previously Unreleased Tracks

Earlier this year, Bob Dylan embarked on a US tour, surprising fans with deep cuts and new touring band members. Now, the legendary musician is announcing a 39-CD box set called The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1976 Live Recordings, and it has 371 previously unreleased tracks.The box set captures his 1976 run, which commenced on April 18, 1976 in Lakeland, Florida, and concluded in Salt Lake City on May 25, 1976. It featured guests like Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Willie Nelson, and Allen Ginsberg. His band included bassist Rob Stoner, violinist Scarlet Rivera, drummer Howie Wyeth, guitarists Mick Ronson, Steven Soles, David Mansfield, and T Bone Burnett. The May 16 show at Fort Worth gets its own 3-LP set remixed from the original multi-track tapes; from that, "Going, Going, Gone" is out today.In a statement, Burnett says, "The Rolling Thunder Revue was the first national punk rock tour. It opened a door that led to a furious explosion of new music — the Clash, Elvis Costello, the Ramones, the Sex Pistols and on and on. Dylan had done it again.
