The iX4 will enter global markets in March 2027, initially in 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive variants, while the range-topping iX4 M60 xDrive will follow shortly after.The iX4 adopts BMW’s new-generation 800V Gen6 eDrive technology, featuring cylindrical-cell batteries, updated electric motors and a new electronics and software architecture. BMW says the technology enables higher efficiency, faster charging, longer range and bidirectional charging capability.Distinctive coupe-SUV designThe iX4 retains the core Neue Klasse design language but gets a more dramatic silhouette compared to the iX3. Its long wheelbase, short overhangs and sharply sloping roofline give it a distinct coupe-SUV profile.At the front, BMW’s new-generation kidney grille and twin headlight elements are integrated into a single graphic treatment. The rear features slim horizontal tail-lights, a pronounced spoiler and sculpted surfaces. The M60 xDrive adds M-specific design elements, including M Yellow Lights, a special rear spoiler, black Shadowline trim and 21-inch alloy wheels. A large panoramic sunroof is standard, while customers will be able to choose from seven interior themes and an initial selection of nine exterior colours.Neue Klasse interior and Panoramic iDriveInside, the iX4 follows BMW’s minimalist Neue Klasse philosophy. The cabin features the brand’s Panoramic iDrive system, combining the BMW Panoramic Vision display, a 3D Head-Up Display, a 17.9-inch central touchscreen and a new-generation sports steering wheel. The iX4 also gets BMW Operating System X, My Modes and BMW Digital Premium, while the M60 xDrive adds M-specific displays, including a Powermeter.The standard equipment list includes electrically adjustable front seats with memory, a seven-speaker 205-watt hi-fi system and connected-car functions. The M60 xDrive gets M Sport seats with 10-way electric adjustment and a 13-speaker, 430-watt Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos.Up to 828km of rangeThe BMW iX4 40 xDrive gets dual electric motors producing 275kW (374hp) and 520Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100kph in 5.6 seconds, while its maximum range is rated at up to 638km.The iX4 50 xDrive steps things up with 345kW (469hp) and 645Nm, enabling a 0-100kph time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 210kph. It uses a 108.7kWh usable battery and offers a claimed range of up to 828km.Both variants support DC fast charging, with the iX4 50 xDrive capable of accepting up to 400kW. BMW claims that 10 minutes of charging can add up to 387km of range. The iX4 40 xDrive can add up to 301km in the same timeframe.The range-topping iX4 M60 xDrive, meanwhile, produces 450kW (612hp) and 875Nm. It can sprint from 0-100kph in 3.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 240kph. Despite its performance focus, BMW claims a maximum range of up to 777km.Performance-focused technologyBMW says the iX4 uses its new Heart of Joy high-performance computer alongside the BMW Dynamic Performance Control Driving Stack. The system is designed to manage the electric powertrain and vehicle dynamics with significantly faster control responses.The M60 xDrive gets adaptive M suspension, sport steering and an electronically controlled M locking differential at the rear axle as standard. Adaptive M suspension will also be available as an option on the other iX4 variants.The new iX4 will additionally offer a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance systems, including BMW Symbiotic Drive and the Motorway Assistant, which enables hands-free driving at speeds of up to 130kph on approved routes in markets where the feature is permitted.The BMW iX4 will make its global market debut in March 2027.
