Mandatory Credit: Matt Marton-Imagn Images Wyatt Kaiser and Roman Kantserov scored and Spencer Knight made 25 saves as the host Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 on Tuesday to stop a three-game losing streak. Chicago capped a 3-4 homestand while Los Angeles ended a five-game road trip at 3-2. The Blackhawks managed two goals or fewer five times during the stretch, but Kaiser helped the club to a victory with his first goal of the season at 7:17 of the third period. A Kings turnover in the defensive zone created an opportunity for the Blackhawks, with Kaiser sending a wrist shot from the left circle through the five-hole of Los Angeles goaltender Anton Forsberg. Forsberg made 25 saves for the Kings, who tallied a season-best six goals in Monday's victory against the New York Rangers. Quinton Byfield paced the Kings with six shots. Alex Laferriere followed with five. Los Angeles took a 1-0 lead 2:31 into the first period, emerging with a goal after the Blackhawks were unable to clear a puck sitting on the red line. Samuel Helenius stuffed a shot past Knight for his first goal of the season. After registering just one shot over the first five-plus minutes of the game, the Blackhawks ramped up their attack. Forsberg turned aside Patrick Kane's slick backhand move midway through the first period and denied Artyom Levshunov on an odd-man rush in the opening moments of the second. Kantserov tied the game at 1 with a power-play goal at 16:40 of the second period, putting a bouncing puck past Forsberg off a feed from Connor Bedard. Chicago capitalized on the second of consecutive penalties against the Kings' Joel Armia. Referees whistled the Blackhawks' Sam Rinzel for a four-minute double-minor for high-sticking late in the period but Chicago killed the penalty, which overlapped into the third. The Blackhawks went 1-for-3 on the man advantage while the Kings were 0-for-3. --Field Level Media
