BJP goons attacked CJP volunteers during school visit: Arvind Kejriwal

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday launched a sharp attack on the BJP over an alleged assault on Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) volunteers who had reached a village near Jaipur to inspect a government school.Kejriwal accused BJP workers of targeting the team and said the incident raised questions over whether efforts to highlight issues affecting children were being deliberately obstructed.Responding to a post by CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka, Kejriwal said, "What's going on in the country? BJP's goons have brutally attacked CJP's volunteers. They beat them up, tore their clothes, and smashed the car windows," Kejriwal said in a post on X.The incident took place at Rampura-Kanwarpura village, where CJP workers had arrived as part of the party's "School Thik Karo" campaign to assess the condition and facilities at a government primary school. Ranka was also expected to visit the campus. However, the planned inspection turned tense after a group of residents opposed the team's presence and prevented them from entering the village and school premises.Videos purportedly showing the confrontation surfaced on social media, with people seen arguing, pushing and shoving members of the CJP team. Some footage also showed broken windows of vehicles believed to have been used by the visiting group. A protest was later held outside the school.Ranka rejected the claim that those opposing the team were ordinary villagers and alleged that BJP workers had been mobilised to disrupt the inspection."These are not the villagers from there, but goons summoned by the BJP," he said in a post on X. He also alleged that children were being taught in a cowshed "among buffaloes" and claimed political pressure was being used to prevent the issue from being raised.CJP founder Abhijit Dipke similarly accused BJP workers of attacking volunteers and questioned the Rajasthan Police's handling of the episode.Ranka separately alleged that the confrontation followed instructions from Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar. The latest confrontation is likely to intensify the political dispute, with the CJP continuing to flag alleged deficiencies in school infrastructure and the government facing demands for greater transparency over its new restrictions.- EndsPublished On: Aug 21, 2026 23:59 IST
