Bilt Offers Up To 125% Amtrak Bonus October 1—Plus Instant Hilton Diamond For Platinum Members

Bilt’s October 1 Rent Day will offer up to a 125% transfer bonus to Amtrak, up to a 200% bonus to Hilton, and instant Hilton status just for making a transfer. Bilt Platinum members get Hilton Diamond through the end of the year with a small transfer. The Amtrak offer is the one I’d look at for moving a meaningful number of points. Hilton’s bigger bonus is still weak for most use cases although transferring the minimum for status is tempting (though Hilton Diamond does not impress). Up To 125% More Amtrak Points October 1 When Bilt added Amtrak Guest Rewards as a transfer partner on September 23, I wrote that a transfer bonus would make this more interesting. The regular rate is 2 Bilt points to 1 Amtrak point. With an Amtrak point worth roughly 2.67 cents in train travel, that’s about 1.33 cents per Bilt point. You’re not much better off than booking travel through Bilt’s portal. On October 1, the bonus depends on your Bilt status: Bilt Status Transfer Bonus Amtrak Points For 10,000 Bilt Points Blue 25% 6,250 Silver 50% 7,500 Gold 75% 8,750 Platinum 100% 10,000 Platinum + $400 Bilt Cash 125% 11,250 The bonus applies to the first 100,000 Bilt points transferred. Members can spend $400 Bilt Cash to buy up one bonus tier; Platinum members buying up receive the 125% bonus. Without spending any Bilt Cash, Platinums get a 1:1 transfer ratio. That’s roughly 2.67 cents in train travel per Bilt point. Golds get about 2.33 cents, Silvers about 2 cents, and Blue members about 1.67 cents. Whether spending $400 Bilt Cash for the higher bonus – a bigger amount than on past Rent Days – makes sense depends on your alternative uses for the cash. I have way too much and most of it expires at the end of the year. But you might be preserving yours to fund points paying for housing, for points accelerators, or for big redemptions like Blacklane or Blade helicopter credits. In may case there’s really no opportunity cost. But at the maximum 100,000 point transfer, moving up one tier gets you just 12,500 additional Amtrak points, worth about $333 in train travel. Buying up as a Platinum gets you roughly 3 cents in train travel per Bilt point, before accounting for any opportunity cost in the $400 Bilt Cash you’ve spent. Amtrak points can cover Northeast Corridor trips or a sleeper on the California Zephyr. Acela first class upgrade coupons start at 2,500 Amtrak points, applied within 12 hours of departure, subject to availability and the coupon’s restrictions. Hilton’s Status Offer Is More Interesting Than Its 200% Bonus Hilton transfers normally run 1:1. Here’s the October 1 offer, also limited to the first 100,000 Bilt points transferred: Bilt Status Transfer Bonus Instant Hilton Status Blue 75% Silver Silver 100% Silver Gold 150% Gold Platinum 175% Diamond Platinum + $200 Bilt Cash 200% Diamond You can spend $200 Bilt Cash to buy up one tier for this offer. That’s more than the $150 buy-up when Bilt offered a Hilton bonus in July. These buy ups keep getting more expensive! A Hilton point is worth about 2/5ths of a cent, so even a 200% bonus gets you about 1.2 cents per Bilt point on average. That’s less than the 1.25 cents you can get through Bilt’s travel portal, before even considering the Bilt Cash cost, though portal bookings may exclude points and status-earning. Of course there are outlier redemptions where this can make sense, but a Bilt point is worth so much more than a Hilton point that even at 200% I’m not doing speculative transfers. The status is different. Make a transfer on October 1 and you get the indicated Hilton status through December 31, 2026. Bilt’s published minimums are 2,000 points for Blue members and 1,000 for Silver, Gold and Platinum. So a Platinum member can transfer 1,000 Bilt points, receive 2,750 Hilton points, and get Diamond for the rest of the year. There’s also a challenge to earn or keep status through 2027: Blue and Silver members get Hilton Gold after 6 qualifying nights in 90 days. Gold members get Hilton Diamond after 12 qualifying nights in 90 days. Platinum members keep Hilton Diamond after 12 qualifying nights in 90 days. The challenge must be completed by the end of 2026. The status offer follows your tier after any buy up, so a Bilt Gold member spending $200 Bilt Cash to move up for this promotion would also receive instant Diamond. If you’ve got Hilton stays this fall and don’t already have the status, that’s probably better than extra points.
