BENJAMIN SESKO insists he is in a “perfect” condition following his return for Manchester United. Sesko scored his second goal in as many games on his first start in more than four months in United’s 4-0 Champions League victory against Sabah on Thursday. SunSport revealed in May that United did not risk Sesko in their final three matches last term to allow his shin to sufficiently heal. Sign up for the Man United newsletter Thank you! During his lay-off, Sesko gained extra muscle mass and he is vying for a first Premier League start of the campaign against Manchester City on Sunday. Sesko only managed two goals in his first five months after a £73.68million transfer from RB Leipzig, but he has scored 12 goals in 20 games this calendar year. Sesko is now adamant he is in the best possible physical and mental state, 13 months on from his move to United. “We just need a little bit longer than usual,” he said of his injury. “Because if you start too early, it might appear again. “And I think waiting a little bit longer was a great decision, and now it’s healed, so it’s perfect. “Obviously, I had quite some time from the injury to gain some muscle. I lost a lot (of mobility) because I was overweight with muscles and I couldn’t really move so much. Everything was new for me. Now for me it’s like I’m really enjoying it. “I’m really happy here. I love life here. I have team-mates that are perfect. “I can’t really complain about anything. “What do I love? Just the vibes. I like to go to the city for a walk. I can do certain arcade things that I like to do in my free time. “Then obviously spending a little time with the players. And I think it’s just what I like.” Sesko joined United in August last year Credit: Getty Sesko stressed he is still “far” from emulating some of United’s greatest strikers. Robin van Persie was the last United frontman to hit the 30-goal barrier in a season back in 2012-13. Slovenia international Sesko tallied a creditable 12 goals in 32 games last term and will be expected to comfortably surpass that in a campaign that United are guaranteed to have at least ten more matches. “Obviously, the more games I’m getting, the more comfortable I feel and the more free I feel in the game as well,” Sesko explained. “For me, the focus is all about scoring goals to provide everything for this club. But then also certain things that sometimes – like link-up play – just this little things that can be all-round. “I think it will just come now in time. I’m here. I feel better and better every day. This is the most important.” Sesko did not get off the bench in Michael Carrick’s first match in charge against Manchester City in January but could appreciate the United coach’s instant impact from the substitutes’ bench. United won 2-0 at Old Trafford in what is widely considered their best performance since the 2024 FA Cup final triumph against City. “Definitely straight away,” Sesko recalled of Carrick’s immediate effect. “Even from the start when he came, it was something special. “I think everyone felt it.” Comment now
