She questioned Rapido's accountability for its riders, describing a series of interactions that made her increasingly uncomfortable during and after the ride.According to Srishti, she was initially hesitant to take the ride because of the rain. However, the rider, identified in her post as Syed Tousif Z, repeatedly requested that she not cancel the booking because of the weather. She alleged that once the ride began, the rider tried to be overly friendly by offering her a raincoat and repeatedly asking whether she was comfortable, even though she had her earphones plugged in. The situation became more unsettling when they reached her residential society. While returning his helmet, the rider held her hand for several seconds while smiling at her in a way she found creepy. When she asked for his QR code to make the payment, she claimed he said his phone was not working because of the rain and asked for her phone number or offered his own instead.Srishti insisted on paying through the QR code and completed the transaction. However, the incident did not end there. Srishti said she deliberately stayed outside her society because she felt unsafe and waited for around 15 minutes, during which she noticed that the rider had still not left. She then asked a security guard to tell him to leave, but alleged that he remained there for another five minutes, saying he was using his phone.According to her account, the rider left only after the guard asked him to leave for a second time, around 10 minutes later.“I felt so unsafe and traumatised,” Srishti wrote, expressing concern that women could struggle to feel secure while travelling by bike, auto-rickshaw or cab, even during peak hours, because of inadequate safety measures.Take a look at the post here:TRIGGER WARNING @rapidoapp_ @BlrCityPolice I don't understand how RAPIDO has no accountability for such riders. I was already hesitant to take the ride because of rain. This rider “SYED TOUSIF Z” repeatedly asked not to cancel the ride because of the rain. https://t.co/wRDoltdAGM— swishbee (@srishhteaaaa) October 15, 2026The post received responses from both Bengaluru Police and Rapido. Bengaluru Police asked her to share details of the specific area and her contact information through direct message, so the matter could be looked into.Rapido also responded, apologising for the distressing experience and acknowledging the seriousness of unwanted physical contact and behaviour that makes passengers feel unsafe. The company added that the rider had been permanently suspended from its platform.Social media users expressed concern over Srishti's experience, with one suggesting that taking a photograph of the rider could have helped alert others and assist in identifying him.Another expressed sympathy for what she had gone through, describing the incident as deeply worrying.- Ends
