A Bengaluru woman said she had carried a packet of oats and a small container as she did not want to depend entirely on outside food while travelling with her toddler.Bengaluru mom asked train pantry to cook oats for her child, response surprised her (Photos: DakshNMom/Instagram) New Delhi,Oct 8, 2026 18:22 ISTA Bengaluru-based woman travelling from Bihar with her two-year-old child was pleasantly surprised when Indian Railways pantry staff agreed to cook oats she had carried for her baby during the journey.In a post shared on her Instagram account ‘DakshNMom,’ the woman said she had carried a packet of oats and a small container as she did not want to depend entirely on outside food while travelling with her toddler.During the evening, she took the oats to the pantry and asked the staff if they could prepare them for her child. To her surprise, they agreed and made the freshly cooked oats within five minutes.“What touched me even more was not just the food, but the genuine helpfulness and kindness of the staff,” she said. She also said that the pantry staff were “cooperative and welcoming” and did not hesitate to help a mother travelling with a baby. The woman also thanked Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the experience.A video accompanying the post titled “I genuinely didn’t expect this from Indian Railways” showed the oats being cooked in the train pantry. “Sometimes, it’s these little gestures that make a long journey so much easier and memorable,” she said, thanking the pantry staff and Indian Railways for making the journey easier for her.- Ends
