‘Beloved’ Brit newlywed killed alongside wife in horror fireball helicopter crash on Greek honeymoon

A BRITISH newlywed couple who were killed in a horror helicopter crash during their honeymoon on a Greek holiday island have been named. Alexander Cromie and Marie Ebert died alongside a Greek pilot as the aircraft was seen hurtling towards the ground before exploding in a fireball on Monday. The Brit couple were reportedly on their honeymoon at the time of the tragedy. But he was described as “a very experienced” former military air force pilot by a police source. He was a married dad-of-three, according to local reports. A rescue team from Syros then arrived later on with the Fire Department’s RAFNAR speedboat. Most read in The Sun The cause of the tragic crash is still under investigation with locals telling cops a “strange noise” was heard as the helicopter flew over their homes. Deputy Mayor of Sifnos, Manolis Fountoulakis told ERTnews: “According to the testimonies of the residents of the area, they heard the noise of the helicopter, it was a strange noise. “It probably had a mechanical failure in the air. This is because the propeller was doing something strange… it was making a very loud noise.” Investigators are now focusing on these final minutes before the fatal crash. Authorities are attempting to accurately reconstruct the flight path after it was revealed the small private aircraft crashed close by to its correct landing location. Comment now
