Before Maharashtra family suicide, mother posted video alleging family harassment

In one of them, she allegedly accused relatives of mentally harassing her family, creating a rift between her son and his father, and trying to grab their property.Sangita, who died along with her husband and 18-year-old son after the three fell from a hill in Waluj on Friday, had shared a one-minute video on YouTube on Thursday, a day before the tragedy. In the video, she spoke about giving love and making sacrifices only for people who value them.“Be ready to give your fate, but to the person who values you, who values your love. If a person does not value you, does not value your love, or does not value what you do for them, then there is no point in doing anything for such a person,” she said in Marathi. In another purported video that surfaced after the deaths, Sangita appears distressed and accuses some relatives, including her husband's sister, of mentally harassing the family, trying to ruin their lives and attempting to grab their property. She also alleges that the relatives had created a rift between her son Kunal and his father, Murlidhar Chandgude.“They never show love to her children, constantly abuse her, create misunderstandings in their brother's family, and cause fights. They harass her; in a way, they try their best to break their brother's family. And if they cannot break it, then they ask for a share in the property and take the property,” she said. She further alleged that such relatives do not support their brothers during difficult times and instead abuse both the brother and his wife during periods of personal tragedy.Sangita, who had more than 29,000 followers on YouTube, regularly posted motivational videos and short vlogs featuring her son Kunal Chandgude.The videos are now being examined by police to determine their authenticity and the circumstances in which they were recorded. Investigators are also looking into the allegations of family conflict, mental harassment and a property dispute to ascertain whether they had any bearing on the deaths. IPHONE DISPUTE PRECEDED FAMILY'S TRAGIC ENDThe latest development comes after police initially identified a dispute over Kunal's demand for a new iPhone as the immediate trigger for the tragedy.According to Waluj MIDC police, Kunal wanted a new iPhone but the family was facing financial difficulties. His father, Murlidhar Chandgude, 48, worked as a driver and was the family's sole earning member. After Murlidhar refused to buy the phone, Kunal allegedly became upset and went to a hill in the Tisgaon area around 10 am on Friday.Police said Kunal appeared intent on taking his own life, prompting his parents to follow him and try to persuade him to return home.THREE-HOUR RESCUE EFFORT ENDS IN TRAGEDYVillagers, police personnel and fire brigade officials also reached the spot and joined the rescue operation. Firefighters tried to place a safety net at the base of the hill, while those at the site attempted to persuade Kunal to move away from the cliff edge.However, Kunal repeatedly changed his position along the steep edge, making it difficult for rescuers to approach him safely. The standoff continued for nearly three hours.Around 1 pm, Murlidhar moved closer to his son in an attempt to calm him down and persuade him to return home. Police said Kunal then jumped from the hill. Murlidhar made a desperate attempt to grab his son but lost his balance, causing both of them to fall.Sangita witnessed her husband and son falling from the hill. Moments later, she too jumped from the same spot, police said. Kunal, Murlidhar and Sangita died in the incident. Their bodies were recovered and sent for further formalities.The emergence of Sangita's videos has added a new dimension to the investigation.
