One of the stars of Tarantino's ninth movie is Brad Pitt, who plays stunt performer Cliff Booth. Later this year, Pitt will reprise his Oscar-winning role in the Netflix sequel The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth. Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood takes audiences back to 1969 Could it be the filmmaker's masterpiece? Tarantino loves making violent movies. That's not a criticism by any means. Tarantino's proclivity for stylish and graphic violence is one of his best traits as a filmmaker, leading to classics like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Kill Bill. While Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood has a violent final act, the dramedy might be his most emotional and sincere film. Tarantino has since called it his best movie, though some fans believe his masterpiece is Pulp Fiction. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Rick Dalton, an aging star at the end of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Rick and his stunt performer, Cliff Booth (Pitt), are struggling to adapt to this new era of filmmaking. Another storyline involves Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie), a beautiful actress who lives next door to Rick. Meanwhile, the Manson family is gaining more popularity. Released in 2019, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood garnered rave reviews and became the second-highest-grossing movie of Tarantino's career ($409 million worldwide). The movie received 10 Oscar nominations, winning for Best Supporting Actor (Pitt) and Best Production Design. He penned a script that continued the story of Cliff Booth into the 1970s. Ultimately, he elected not to direct the movie. However, Pitt loved the script and received permission from Tarantino to find a new director. Enter David Fincher, Pitt's longtime collaborator. That project became The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, written by Tarantino and directed by Fincher. Pitt will reprise his role as Cliff Booth, who, in 1977, works as a Hollywood "studio fixer." Cliff still has his laid-back personality, but the trailer teases more of a crime saga than a love letter to Hollywood. Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Peter Weller also star. The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will stream on Netflix on Dec. 23, 2026. However, the film will receive an exclusive two-week theatrical release in IMAX starting on Nov. 25, 2026.
