Baguio City Fire Marshal Supt. Mark Anthony Dangatan said the blaze destroyed residential structures with a combined floor area of about 120 square meters. Most of the houses were made of light materials, including wood and galvanized iron (GI) sheets. One resident suffered an asthma attack during the incident and was reported injured. Article continues after this advertisement READ: 2 separate fires hit Baguio; no injuries reported READ: Fire breaks out near Baguio Justice Hall Dangatan said the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) received the alarm through the city’s Smart City Command Center at 10:11 a.m. Firefighters arrived at the scene at 10:30 a.m., placed the fire under control at 11 a.m., and declared it fully extinguished at 11:20 a.m. Firefighting operations were hampered by the location of the affected area, which was about 200 meters from the nearest accessible road, making it difficult for responding units to bring equipment closer to the scene, Dangatan said.
