Courtesy: PTINew Delhi,Oct 23, 2026 18:23 ISTGrace Harris could emerge as the most expensive player at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 auction, according to former India cricketer Aakash Chopra. The Australian all-rounder has established herself as one of the most destructive batters in women’s T20 cricket, and her ability to contribute with the ball could attract significant interest from franchises.Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have released Harris ahead of the auction, leaving the 33-year-old available to join another franchise. She has registered for the auction at a base price of Rs 30 lakh. With limited slots available across the five teams, proven match-winners who can make an impact with both bat and ball could attract strong bidding interest.Chopra believes Harris's explosive batting and all-round abilities could make her one of the most sought-after players at the mini-auction.“I think Grace Harris would be the most expensive player at this smaller auction. Of course, in a small auction, the player availability is limited. Demand also won't be very high because most teams have held on to their main players. “But I still feel that the kind of batter she is and contributes with the ball as well, she could be in demand,” Chopra said while speaking on JioStar’s ‘TATA WPL Auction: Most Wanted’.WHO COULD BUY GRACE HARRIS?UP Warriorz could emerge as potential contenders for Harris, with the franchise holding the biggest purse of Rs 3.75 crore going into the auction. Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians and RCB have a purse of 1.1 crore, 1.25 crore, 0.9 crore and 1.15 crore respectively. Harris has previously played for the Warriorz, making a reunion a possibility. “Who has the biggest purse? It is UP Warriorz once again. So, if the UP Warriorz are keen, I feel she could be the most expensive player at this auction,” Chopra added.Harris has represented both UP Warriorz and RCB in the WPL, showcasing her ability to turn matches around with her aggressive strokeplay. She has scored 818 runs in 31 WPL matches at a strike rate of 149.54, including five half-centuries.Her highest score in the competition is 85. She has also claimed 15 wickets, with best bowling figures of 4/15, underlining her value as a genuine all-rounder. Harris is also one of the four bowlers with a WPL hat-trick along with Issy Wong, Deepti Sharma and Nandni SharmaThe WPL 2027 player auction is scheduled to take place in Kochi, Kerala, on October 28, 2026.- Ends
