That’s the kind of delightful description you get at Attenzione!, which has, since opening in 2024, quietly matured into a place with a unique point of view – something that’s exciting in a city that increasingly seems to have a copy and paste approach. Everything is humming: service is tight, the front dining room is even more stylish thanks to the addition of beautiful new curtains, and the food – which leans Italian – has a distinct, modern sensibility. An octopus ragu with trottolo and lime zest has the richness of slow-cooked meat but is lighter and more textural. Sugarloaf cabbage gets a glow-up with a smooth salsa verde and chicken-skin crumb, and pipis are piled on yesterday’s sourdough swimming in a triumphant buttery, garlicky sauce.
