At least 34 children rescued from human trafficking network in Arunachal Pradesh

The police in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district have rescued 38 people, including 34 children, from a suspected child trafficking network.The police also rescued four adults in connection with a suspected illegal placement case.Four persons allegedly involved in trafficking or facilitating traffickers have been arrested in connection with the case so far, the police said. “We are investigating the roles of Rupali Padung, an alleged key facilitator, and others connected with the transportation and placement of the victims,” a district police official said.Namsai’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kengo Dirchi, is heading the investigation under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Sangey Thinley and in coordination with the Child Welfare Committee and the District Child Protection Unit.According to the police, the investigation is focused on establishing the complete network of facilitators, the transportation and placement of the children, financial transactions, electronic evidence, and other links associated with the case.Police are also examining the roles of some people with whom the children were allegedly placed, as well as their parents or guardians, to verify their individual roles and circumstances.
