At least 1 dead and 4 injured in shooting at high school in southern Philippines

MANILA – Philippine police confirmed a shooting at a high school in the southern Philippines on Sept 18, with injuries reported.“We have injuries. Not just one but we are verifying more details,” police chief master sergeant Reggie Faderon told Reuters.The Philippine Daily Inquirer said that at least four students were wounded. It added that an initial police report said the incident happened at around 1pm.According to Philippines news outlets Bilyonaryo News Channel, the nation’s Department of Education expressed deep concern over a reported shooting incident at Banga National High School in Banga, South Cotabato.In a statement on Sept 18, the authority said it is ready to provide psychological first aid and mental health and psychosocial support to those affected.“The safety of every learner and member of the school community remains our foremost opportunity,” the agency said.This is a developing story.
