Anthony Joshua's torture training! Boxer uses ancient Cossack warriors' stretching machine to prepare himself to fight Tyson Fury in a painful-looking workout routine

Published: 04:14 EDT, 24 September 2026 | Updated: 04:29 EDT, 24 September 2026 Anthony Joshua has been summoning the strength of an ancient warrior as he prepares for his long-awaited bout with Tyson Fury on a stretching machine.Boxing's biggest battle of the year is expected to take place at Cardiff's Principality Stadium in early December, after a venue war that saw it move from Madison Square Garden in New York.Despite the superfight being shrouded in uncertainty for much of the year, both Joshua and Fury have been knuckling down in the gym in preparation for their showdown.Away from the usual training drills associated with boxing, it appears that Joshua is trying something new in order to get the best out of himself when he faces the Gypsy King. The two-time heavyweight world champion has posted a video to Instagram of him using a Pravilo machine, a stretching machine used by warriors in medieval times. The machine is a training and conditioning device that originates from Slavic and Russian traditions. It is best-known for being used by historical Cossack warriors for over 1,000 years. Anthony Josshua has posted a video of him using the ancient warrior Pravilo machineAnd if the video posted by Joshua is anything to go by, it can be somewhat of a torturous bit of equipment, based on how it stretches out each limb of the human body. The 36-year-old can be seen being pulled into a starfish position by the modern version of the machine, which he keeps in his new training gym in Dubai.Earlier this year, Daily Mail Sport revealed Joshua had in fact quit the UK to move to Dubai – even as thousands tried to flee amid rising panic due to the conflict in the Middle East. The post on Instagram – which is captioned 'When the instructor says, relax and breathe' – also shows the 251.0lb (113.9kg) frame of Joshua being easily rotated 180 degrees, displaying the strength of his core.Joshua will be returning to the Welsh capital where he has won twice previously, beating Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker in 2017 and 2018 respectively.Wembley had looked an ideal venue for the fight, but the strict 11pm curfew has been a sticking point, despite London mayor Sadiq Khan saying he wanted to ensure allowances were made to host the fight.Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury could now be set to fight in Cardiff, Wales in December Boxing dealmaker Turki Al-Sheikh has been insistent on a start time of 2am.The streaming giant Netflix has yet to sign off on Cardiff, but American sportswriter Dan Rafael last week reported he had asked Netflix if they would approve, with a source telling him: 'I think they're OK.'A spokesperson for the Welsh Rugby Union said: 'We'd be delighted to host this fight.'We are very keen to attract more boxing to the stadium, which has a rich history in the sport, enhanced by its closable roof, unrivalled sight lines and unique city-centre location.'
