Former England, Liverpool, and Newcastle footballer Carroll revealed in his new autobiography, Owning It: In My Own Words, that he was sexually assaulted by a ‘male celebrity’ in 2021. He later verified that Kevin Adams, a dance coach on BBC’s Fame Academy, assaulted him while he slept naked. Adams, now 59, was sentenced to 20 months in prison in 2023 for the sexual assault, which Carroll said had a ‘devastating impact on my life and loved ones’. Adams’ daughter Avia, 21, has now spoken about the incident and revealed her father did not tell her he had been imprisoned. She told The Sun: ‘I feel really bad for [Mr Carroll]. I just think my dad is a monster.’ Adams’ daughter Avia revealed her father did not tell her he had been imprisoned (Picture: Karwai Tang/WireImage) She added: ‘As far as naming him — he’s done something terrible to you so name him. If I was in that position I’d do the same.’ She also said that her father kept his real age secret from his family until a fortnight ago, and previously claimed he was in his 40s. Avia grew up in Essex with her family, but now plans to change her surname to cut ties with her father. Avia’s mother married Adams in September 2005, six months after she was born. They split in 2011. After learning that Adams’ name was public knowledge in court filings, Carroll told The Sun on Sunday: ‘Now that Kevin Adams has been named in court documents as my abuser, I can confirm it. ‘Hopefully now I can finally start to put this chapter behind me.’ Carroll revealed last week that Adams, a dance coach on the BBC show, had assaulted him (Picture: Ellis/TGS Photo/Shutterstock) He requested that ‘people don’t constantly share pictures of [his] abuser alongside [him]’. ‘I don’t want to keep seeing his face or being reminded of him every time this story is spoken about,’ he explained. ‘I’m ready to move forward. This had a devastating impact on my life and loved ones.’ Carroll gave evidence during Adams’s trial, something he found ‘humiliating and horrendous’. At the time, Judge Mary Loram condemned Adams’s ‘lies’ after the coach claimed he had been hit for no reason when Carroll awoke mid-attack and knocked him unconscious. Adams was convicted at Chelmsford Crown Court in 2023, where he was jailed for 20 months and placed on the sex offenders register.
