Andrew and Tristan Tate must stay behind bars as they fight extradition to Britain over rape and sex trafficking charges, a US judge has ruled. Andrew, 39, who has built a large following online promoting his views on masculinity, and Tristan, 38, were arrested in July on an extradition request from the UK. Lawyers representing the brothers, who have dual US and British citizenship, requested they be freed until an extradition hearing could be held. However, a bid from their defence team to secure their bail was rejected by magistrate Lauren Louis. It means the controversial pair will remain behind bars in Miami during what could be a lengthy legal process aimed at securing their removal to Britain.The judge said the Tates had failed to demonstrate that 'they do not present a risk of flight or danger to the community'.She also added they failed to prove 'that special circumstances' warranted their release 'whether their proposed special circumstances are considered singly or together'.'Having failed to meet these three factors, respondents' motion for release pending extradition proceedings is denied,' the judge concluded.The former professional kickboxers were detained after more charges were brought against them by UK prosecutors in July.
