The box office performance has continued to struggle after the opening weekend, with the domestic total at $6.46 million and $7.76 million as of this writing. It was made on a reported production budget of $20 million, meaning that it will not break even, let alone make a profit. With a 55% critics' score and 64% audience score, the overall reception was mixed, but ScreenRant's The Uprising review was overwhelmingly positive. Brandon Zachary gave it a rating of eight out of 10 stars and wrote that the movie "succeeds both as a cinematic epic and as a heartbreaking story about how humanity's best and worst qualities shape society and history on a fundamental level."
