Ancient Egyptian ‘Da Vinci Code’ hidden in Great Pyramid for 4,500 years could reveal wild meaning behind world wonder

A DA VINCI CODE-style secret code may have been hiding in plain sight inside the Great Pyramid of Giza for more than 4,500 years, a new theory suggests. The ancient Egyptian monument, which towers over the Giza plateau outside Cairo, is the largest of the three famous pyramids and the only surviving structure of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. But independent researcher Sefy Levy claims the pyramid may have had another meaning, and believes clues were deliberately built into its measurements. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! He says numbers produced by its height, base and sloping sides appear to closely match cycles of the Moon, stars and planets. Levy believes the pyramid’s builders may have turned their knowledge of the skies into a giant mathematical code in stone. Rather than being written on a wall or concealed inside a secret chamber, he claims the apparent message has been sitting in the dimensions of the pyramid itself. “The pyramid was not built to last forever because it contained something valuable,” Levy wrote in the journal SSRN, which has not been evaluated or critiqued by Egyptologists. “It was built to last forever because it was something valuable.” He added, “The pyramid is not a container for knowledge. It is the knowledge, made stone.” Most read in The Sun In his research, Levy said he divided the structure’s key measurements using fractions used in ancient Egyptian scribes. The result, he said, mirrored important numbers in mathematics and astrology. For example, Levy wrote that 27.5 was similar to the 27.55-day interval between successive lunar perigees, the point in the moon’s orbit when it’s closest to Earth. Another result, 70, symbolized 70 days that the star Sirius disappears from view, when it was concealed by the sun’s glare, Levy claimed. Other calculations Levy uncovered apparently matched movements of the planets Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, and Mars across Earth’s skies. The larger theory is that Levy believes the Great Pyramid of Giza was not erected to commemorate Pharaoh Khufu, but rather as a monument to Benben, the primordial mound in Heliopolitan mythology when creation started. However, he also suggested the pyramids could have been modeled on a place where distant ancestors of the ancient Egyptians lived, known as the Eyes of the Sahara. When the region dried up during a drought and the ancient Egyptians migrated south to the Nile, they built the pyramids in memory of their old home, Levy claimed. There is currently no evidence to support any of Levy’s theories.
