But for Amelia Dimoldenberg, who rose to fame for her YouTube interview series Chicken Shop Date, having fans tune in and pay attention took some time. Since 2014, Dimoldenberg invited guests to her show, interviewed them with intimate, often flirty questions, and slowly built her following. And, less than a week ago today, Dimoldenberg broke the news that her longtime series would be coming to an end. But while fans of the series are certainly mourning the end of the show, it's now clear that Dimoldenberg has major acting and comedy aspirations, and she's wasting no time getting them started. Dimoldenberg Is Branching Out After 'Chicken Shop Date' Even before the Chicken Shop Date's ending announcement, Dimoldenberg was already putting her plans into action. In February 2026, Variety confirmed that she is set to star and produce a new romantic comedy for Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures. Per the outlet, the movie, produced by Gloria Sanchez Productions, will have Dimoldenberg as a "by-the-book journalist whose carefully planned life unravels when a routine celebrity interview unexpectedly turns into a romance that makes her question everything she believes about love." Sarah Heyward, whose credits include Girls and Nobody Wants This, will be writing the script. "A dream come true : )" Dimoldenberg wrote on Instagram after the announcement. "So excited to be developing my very own movie!" Most recently, another one of Dimoldenberg's career moves was also revealed. On Instagram, Saturday Night Live UK announced Dimoldenberg as one of their first hosts for Season 2. Dimoldenberg will be hosting the September 26, 2026, show alongside musical guest Rachel Chinouriri. With two exciting new projects, it's clear that Dimoldenberg isn't simply wrapping up the series that made her famous but is using that momentum to establish herself as a broader entertainment personality, comedian and actress. Starring in a romcom and hosting Saturday Night Live UK are the clearest signs yet that acting and comedy will be defining her next chapter. Dimoldenberg Has Been Showing Her Talents For Many Years Now Image via DIMZ INC. While Chicken Shop Date in itself was trailblazing, proving that celebrity interviews can go further and be more interesting if the celebs are put into perhaps awkward or steamy situations, Dimoldenberg has long been expanding her horizons. In 2024, she was named the Academy's official social media ambassador and red-carpet correspondent for the 96th Oscars. She then stepped back into the role in 2025 and 2026, making it three consecutive years. She's also attended major red carpet events for social media, including the Brit Awards and the Golden Globe Awards. Expanding her brand even further, Dimoldenberg established her production company, Dimz Inc., in 2018. In 2025, she also launched the first Dimz Inc. Academy, a free week-long creative program in the UK designed to give young people hands-on experience in digital media. Dimoldenberg also continued to prove that her YouTube magic wasn't just confined to chicken shops when she released Passenger Princess, an original series of hers in collaboration with Formula 1. Beyond her hosting talents, she's also become the brand ambassador for brands including Olay, Bumble and Levi's. With all that said, while Chicken Shop Date has been central to Dimoldenberg's career thus far, she's been steadily expanding her talents, brand and scope in the past few years. With the end of the show now confirmed, she'll have the opportunity to further expand her credits, and her very own romcom and taking on hosting duties on SNL UK are at the top of the list. She's making sure the end of the show is far from bad news, and becomes a stepping stone for her success instead.
