Allegiant Air Launches 7 New Routes In Only 2 Days: See Full List Now

Published Oct 1, 2026, 3:01 PM EDT James lives and breathes route development. Educated in Air Transport Management at Loughborough University and Cranfield University, James has a PhD in Airline Strategy and Economics. James was Market Opportunity Analyst at London Luton Airport and Chief Analyst at anna.aero. He taught airline strategy and economics to undergraduate and postgraduate students for five years and has worked closely with multiple carriers on route and market intelligence projects. He is based near London, UK. October is here, so it's worth exploring which routes Allegiant Air plans to commence this month. There are seven of them, all of which will begin on the first two days of the month. In total, Cirium Diio data shows that the ultra-low-cost carrier has scheduled an average of 359 daily movements (takeoffs and landings combined) this month, involving 122 airports. Allegiant's generally older aircraft (Airbus A319s and A320ceos) do not have to be used as intensively as newer equipment (as with the airline's Boeing 737 MAX 8s). This is because they have much lower ownership costs, offset by higher fuel consumption and maintenance. This means the carrier can focus on flying on more popular days, reducing the need to discount as aggressively. 24% of October movements are on Thursdays, against only 3% for Tuesdays. These Seven Routes From Florida Begin In October Credit: St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport They are summarized in the following table and shown on the subsequent map. They are all from Florida, which is, for obvious reasons, overwhelmingly the ULCC's most-served state. They are from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), Punta Gorda Airport (PGD), for the wider Fort Myers area, and St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE), for Tampa Bay. Like Avelo Airlines and Breeze Airways, Allegiant often launches brand-new routes that have not had nonstop flights before. New markets are always particularly appealing. In this case, only one meets the bill, which is a surprisingly small proportion for the ULCC. It's PGD to La Crosse, Wisconsin. Until now, that city has not had any service to PGD or Fort Myers. It is only Wisconsin's 12th most populous city. Even at the metro level, the population remains very small, at around 170,000 people. ULCC Allegiant has only flown there since February 2026, when service from Phoenix Mesa began, followed by SFB three months later. Now it is the turn of PGD. Unsurprisingly, no data exists for La Crosse-PGD indirect traffic. Instead, information about Fort Myers must be considered. In the 12 months to June 2026, the US Department of Transportation (DOT) shows that only 1,551 round-trip passengers traveled. In other words, just four each day, excluding seasonality. Despite the tiny figure, it was La Crosse's 14th-largest market and the city's second-largest unserved market in Florida, after Orlando International. Obviously, Allegiant will grow the traffic strongly. Nonstop flights, low fares, and hopefully strong promotions will do that. Consider Phoenix. Between January and June 2025, only 996 passengers flew. They all traveled with American to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) via Chicago O'Hare. With the start of Allegiant's flights to Mesa, that volume jumped to 12,226 in the same period in 2026 (+1,128%). This was because the average fare fell from $303 to $112 each way (excluding taxes and add-ons). Allegiant Has Only Served One Of The Seven Routes Before The ULCC flew between SFB and Trenton, which is positioned between New York and Philadelphia, in 2016 and 2017. US DOT data shows that 35,339 round-trip passengers were carried, which might not seem like a lot. But given Allegiant's renowned low frequencies, that is not surprising. The same source shows that the load factor was only 69.2%, which was lower than for the other routes the airline operated to Trenton at the time. Moreover, SFB also had the lowest base fare of just $32 each way (excluding taxes and add-ons). No wonder flights ended. Will the route do better this time? Time will tell.
