Warning: Major spoilers for Street Fighter Street Fighter is one of the best-known gaming franchises on the planet and a juggernaut in the fighting genre. 2026 has already been a remarkable year for audiences who enjoy movies based on video games. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie premiered in April, and Mortal Kombat II was released in May. The Street Fighter movie marks the first time the franchise has graced the silver screen in more than three decades. The previous live-action Street Fighter premiered in 1994, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile. Raul Julia's performance as M. Bison is mesmerizing, but even the most ardent fans would admit the movie does make some strange choices with the source material. Street Fighter 2026 takes a completely different approach from its predecessor. The movie seems proud of its roots and willing to embrace the silliness of the games. The 2026 movie also features an extensive roster of fighters. It includes beloved series mainstays like Ryu and Ken, as well as strange inclusions that will even take veteran players off guard. In the games, any playable character can win a fight, but the Street Fighter movie naturally doesn't have to take a balanced approach to the roster. Instead, it features characters of a wide range of power levels, from the laughably weak.to the absurdly strong. 16 Joe Joe (Alex Volkanovski) is a fascinating addition to the Street Fighter movie roster. He only appears in the original Street Fighter game from 1987 and wasn't even a playable character. In the movie, Joe is extremely lucky in the tournament, rising through the ranks as his opponents withdraw for various reasons. He loses the only fight we see him participate in. The result makes sense given who his opponent is, but he loses so badly that we likely won't see him again in a sequel. Joe is an obscure reference to the franchise's history. Fans of the games will find it hard not to appreciate his inclusion, though he's at the bottom of the list because he does so little. 15 Dan Hibiki Dan Hibiki (Andrew Schulz) is a comic relief character in the games. He trained under Gouken, Ken and Ryu's master, though his skills are always portrayed as wildly inferior. He barely fights in the movie, so his power is difficult to gauge. Dan assumes more of a coach/support role in the Street Fighter film. Some of his exchanges with other characters, particularly Guile, are hilarious, but we don't see him fight anyone from the established cast. Like Joe, Dan gets soundly thrashed by the one person he attacks. Also, similar to Joe, the result makes sense considering who he briefly fights. Ultimately, Dan is better off after his beat down than Joe, which is why he ranks higher. 14 Juli Rayna Vallandingham makes a brilliant Juli. She looks the part and wields a staff. In the games, Juli is one of the 'Dolls' and an elite operative for M. Bison. The movie doesn't flesh out her backstory, but she's clearly a high-ranking officer. Juli loses to Chun-Li, which is why she ranks lower on the list. She also teamed up with Vega for that encounter, so the odds were stacked against her opponent. If we get a sequel, we could learn more about her character, since her backstory ties in with others who didn't make it into the movie. 13 Cammy Cammy (Mel Jarnson) is one of the toughest characters to rank fairly. Her outfit looks fantastic, and she's a great addition to the roster as a villain working for M. Bison. Cammy doesn't work for Bison in the newer games, though her allegiance makes sense considering the movie is set in the 90s. Jarnson looks the part and clearly enjoys playing the character, though she ranks low because we never see her actually fight. During one scene, we see Cammy hitting Don (Eric André) a few times. It's a funny scene, though it doesn't reveal much about her power. Nevertheless, Cammy is clearly respected in Bison's ranks, and she likely wouldn't have that status if she were a pushover. Cammy is also adept with weapons, such as a rocket launcher. 12 Guile Cody Rhodes plays a fun Guile, complete with his iconic, gravity-defying hairdo. His Flash Kick featured prominently in the trailers, launching Vega through a brick wall. Unfortunately for Guile, he faces Vega again in the tournament. He loses the bout, though we can't tell if he put up a fight because the encounter happens offscreen. Still, we know Guile survives the brawl. Dan seems somewhat afraid of him, but it's tough to measure his strength compared to other characters in the movie. If we ranked characters based on how closely they match their game designs, Guile would rank much higher because he looks suitably ridiculous. However, we never get to see him in a 1v1. 11 Vega Vega (Orville Peck) ranks higher than Guile purely because he won in their tournament match, even if we didn't see it happen. Later, we see Guile with claw marks across his face, which are clearly Vega's handiwork. As we mentioned in our entry about Juli, Vega also participates in a fight with Chun-Li. The encounter isn't as personal as their brawl in Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, and while his claw immediately makes him a formidable opponent, his power seems to pale in comparison to other fighters on the roster. The movie also never gives us a chance to see his aerial and acrobatic antics, or his sadistic side from the games. 10 E. Honda Hirooki Goto plays a superb E. Honda. We see him in action in the trailers, and his bathhouse fight is full of nods to the games. Honda is already strong as he's a sumo wrestler, but he's so much more than that. E. Honda is iconic in the games for his Hundred Hand Slap. The movie portrays the attack as an almost supernatural ability, able to punch holes in wooden walls farther than arm's length. He also performs his Sumo Headbutt attack. Honda ultimately loses the one fight he participates in, though he does land some hits. He may have ranked higher if we'd seen him against other fighters, but he doesn't feature prominently in the movie. 9 Balrog Ken's fight with Balrog (50 Cent) features prominently in the trailers and is a great match in the full movie. The pair go head-to-head in the tournament, and Balrog gains the upper hand in multiple rounds. Balrog hits Ken so hard that he spits blood before falling to the ground. He's clearly a powerful boxer, with lightning-fast punches, though his abilities seem grounded rather than supernatural. Nevertheless, Balrog is a formidable opponent, especially in a tournament setting and in an arena where fights are up close and personal. He ranks higher than several other notable fighters, largely because of his performance against Ken. 8 Dhalsim Most of the cast look superb in Street Fighter 2026, and Vidyut Jammwal's Dhalsim is a big highlight. We sadly don't see him use his Yoga Fire abilities or teleportation. However, his stretchy limbs make him a nightmare to deal with. Dhalsim participates in a bar brawl and wins a tournament fight, even if it happens offscreen. His incredible reach makes him a threat at any range, and he stands toe-to-toe with some of the movie's strongest fighters. Dhalsim could rank even higher if he had more of his abilities from the games. As it stands, he's a unique, technical fighter who won't lose his cool in battle. 7 Zangief Zangief (Olivier Richters) is another fighter who appears prominently in the trailers. He's a mighty warrior and built like a tank. We don't see him fight many people in the movie, but he effortlessly picks up two fighters at once, and they can't escape. Zangief also fights Ken in the movie, and it's a one-sided encounter as the famous wrestler slams him into a car. Street Fighter 2026 boasts a massive cast, and while Zangief is a series mainstay, he doesn't feature prominently. The limited screen time makes Zangief hard to place, but we know he's strong, and we never see him lose a battle.
