Even after directing The Dog Stars, the filmmaker behind Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, and The Martian has an impressive slate of upcoming projects spanning science fiction, historical drama, thrillers, literary adaptations, and video-game movies. This list focuses only on projects that are actively moving toward release and in which Scott has a major creative role, either as a director or producer. It does not include executive producer-only credits such as Blade Runner 2099 or Alien: Earth season 2, nor projects that exist only as unconfirmed development reports or early script-stage concepts. It's also worth noting that none of these projects currently has a firmly established release window. Some are in production, others are in pre-production, while several remain in active development. Nevertheless, all have been publicly linked to Scott or Scott Free Productions and appear to be progressing toward eventual release. With Scott continuing to juggle multiple productions simultaneously, the legendary director shows little sign of slowing down. The horror thriller entered production during 2026 with Aaron Katz directing from a script by Dan Dworkin. Ridley Scott and longtime collaborator Michael Pruss are producing through Scott Free Productions. The story follows a divorced father who builds a backyard swimming pool to reconnect with his son, only for the project to descend into a nightmare. Alexandra Daddario, Kyle Gallner, Raúl Castillo, and John Cho are attached to star. Production began in Atlanta during 2026, and the film has already moved into post-production. For Scott, Inground represents another venture into horror following the success of Alien: Romulus. Nightwatching Scott Free's thriller Nightwatching is already in post-production. Directed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto, it stars Mila Kunis and follows a mother who hides with her children in a secret room during a blizzard while an intruder stalks their home. The situation becomes even more disturbing when she realizes she knows the man threatening her family. Scott produces alongside Michael Pruss and Erik Feig. Production began in Los Angeles during early 2026, placing it among the more advanced projects currently associated with Scott Free. While Scott is not directing, Nightwatching continues his company's longstanding interest in tense, character-driven suspense stories. The Riders Julie Edwards/Future Image/Cover Images The Riders adapts Tim Winton's acclaimed novel and is being produced by Scott Free and distributed by A24. Directed by Edward Berger, it stars Brad Pitt as Fred Scully, whose life is thrown into chaos when his wife disappears shortly after the family relocates to Europe. The project has been in development at Scott Free for years, with the company first pursuing the adaptation long before cameras rolled. Berger's success with All Quiet on the Western Front and Conclave has elevated anticipation considerably. While Scott is producing rather than directing, The Riders is one of the highest-profile literary adaptations currently associated with his company. Alien: Romulus 2 Credit: MovieStillsDB The enormous success of Alien: Romulus made a follow-up inevitable. While official plot details remain under wraps, 20th Century Studios and filmmaker Fede Álvarez have publicly discussed continuing the story introduced in 2024's hit installment. Scott remains actively involved with the franchise he created in 1979 and produced Romulus. The sequel is expected to build upon the surviving characters while expanding the timeline between Alien and Aliens. Few upcoming Scott projects carry greater significance than a new chapter in one of cinema's most influential science-fiction franchises. At present, however, no release date or production timetable has been officially announced, but Alien: Romulus 2 is listed as being in post-production. Gravity Rush A live-action adaptation of PlayStation's cult-favorite Gravity Rush remains in development with Scott Free Productions attached. Anna Mastro is set to direct from a screenplay by Emily Jerome. The project adapts the video game series about Kat, a young woman who can manipulate gravity and uses her abilities to protect the floating city of Hekseville from mysterious threats. The adaptation was first announced in partnership with PlayStation Productions and Scott Free. While no cast members have been revealed and production has not yet begun, Gravity Rush is listed as in pre-production on IMDB. God Of The Rodeo God of the Rodeo has progressed considerably further than some of Ridley Scott's other upcoming projects. It's currently as in post-production on April 28, 2026, following principal photography in Oklahoma City. Rosalind Ross writes and directs, with Scott, Michael Pruss, and Giannina Scott among the producers through Scott Free Productions. Shia LaBeouf stars as Buckkey, a hardened inmate serving a life sentence at Louisiana's Angola Prison in 1967. God of the Rodeo centres on Angola's first inmate rodeo, initially offering Buckkey and his fellow prisoners an opportunity to find dignity and redemption. However, they gradually realize that the event is also a brutal spectacle designed to entertain the public and serve the warden's ambitions. Snoop Dogg subsequently joined the cast and is also producing. Wraiths Of The Broken Land Scott's adaptation of S. Craig Zahler's Wraiths of the Broken Land has had an unusually long journey to the screen. The project was announced back in 2016 with Scott attached to direct and Drew Goddard writing the screenplay, adapting Zahler's novel about a family attempting to rescue two kidnapped daughters from a brothel. The novel is set in the early 20th-century American West and follows the rescue party into Mexico, combining a traditional Western premise with Zahler's notoriously uncompromising violence. The Wraiths of the Broken Land film's current production status indicates that it has moved into pre-production. IMDb currently lists Scott as director and Goddard and Zahler as writers, with Scott Free Productions and Genre Films attached. After years of development, the Western might finally be on the horizon. You Should Be Dancing Scott Free's official website continues to list the untitled Bee Gees project among the company's upcoming films. Long reported as a passion project for Scott, You Should Be Dancing is expected to chronicle the rise of Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb from ambitious young musicians to global superstars. The screenplay has been linked to John Logan, who previously collaborated with Scott on Gladiator. Although various reports have circulated regarding casting and scheduling, Scott Free's official materials currently provide few confirmed details beyond the project's continued existence. Filming was scheduled to begin in October 2025, but it is still listed as being in pre-production. Treasure Island Universal Pictures Robert Louis Stevenson's classic adventure novel has long attracted filmmakers, and Scott's version appears to be moving forward through Scott Free. Treasure Island is an active Scott Free project currently in development. Reports have linked Hugh Jackman to the role of Long John Silver, while Scott has discussed the project in interviews as one he is eager to tackle. Treasure Island follows young Jim Hawkins as he becomes embroiled in a dangerous hunt for buried treasure alongside pirates, mutineers, and one of literature's most iconic antiheroes. For a director known for spectacle and adventure, it feels like a natural fit. At the time of writing, several studios are in the running to acquire it. Children Of The Jungle Children of the Jungle is another Ridley Scott-produced feature that has already reached post-production. It is a Scott Free Productions project with 20th Century Studios and Anam Cara Films also attached. Roberto Bentivegna wrote the screenplay, while Giannina Scott and Ridley Scott are among the producers. Children of the Jungle adapts the extraordinary true story of four Indigenous Colombian children who survived for 40 days in the Amazon rainforest after the June 2023 crash of a light aircraft. The project originated when Giannina Scott optioned journalist Mat Youkee's book Children of the Jungle: The True Story Behind the Survival of Four Children in the Amazon. The story follows Lesly, Soleiny, Tien, and Cristin and draws on accounts from their family, Indigenous community members, and the military teams involved in the search.
