Alaska man, 22, 'accidentally' killed girlfriend, 21, while playing with gun... then took his own life moments later

A young couple is dead after a man 'accidentally shot his girlfriend,' then 'became overwhelmed with grief' and took his own life, police say.CloeRae McBrayer, 21, traveled from Alabama to Alaska to visit her boyfriend when he shot her around 9pm on September 16, according to the Fairbanks Police Department.Her boyfriend, 22-year-old Landon Lowrance, was playing with a revolver when he pointed it at McBrayer and 'accidentally' pulled the trigger, investigators determined.An unidentified friend, who police believe was not involved in the shootings, was with the couple and called 911, and dispatch noted that 'a disturbance could be heard in the background during the call.''While the line was open with dispatch, the caller attempted to physically intervene when Lowrance obtained another firearm and shot himself,' police said. McBrayer was declared deceased at the scene, and a critically injured Lowrance was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.Lowrance's father, Samuel Lowrance, called the tragedy a 'heartbreaking reminder that gun safety must never be taken for granted.'
