Alan Ritchson's new action thriller movie has become a success after its recent arrival on digital, finding success instantly. Ritchson's list of movies and TV shows is filled with exciting releases, but there is no denying that the Reacher franchise is his most popular one. The actor has led four seasons of Reacher as the Lee Child book character Jack Reacher for Prime Video. The TV-MA action thriller series' consistency, with all Reacher seasons topping Prime Video's charts around the world, has led to the show being renewed for seasons 5 and 6 already. Reacher has also expanded with a spin-off. That would be Neagley, led by Reacher star Maria Sten, which also features Ritchson's Jack Reacher as a guest star. While the actor's work has led to Prime Video creating a new action thriller shared universe, Ritchson has also had the time to venture into movie territory in the last couple of years, starring in multiple action hits. Those include movies like Motor City, Prime Video's Playdate, Netflix's record-breaking War Machine — currently standing as one of Netflix's most-watched movies of all time — and now Runner. It is Ritchson's latest film that has now become a massive hit on digital. Alan Ritchson's Runner Fights Its Way To Apple TV Store's Top 10 According to data from FlixPatrol, Runner has become the 7th most-watched movie on the Apple TV Store's Top 20 Movies chart. This makes Ritchson's latest action movie an instant United States sensation on digital, as Runner was released on the usual VOD platforms like the Prime Video Store and the Apple TV Store, on Tuesday, October 13. As such, it only took a day for Runner to break into the digital chart, which was the same window for a few movies that are currently above it on the Apple TV Store in the US. Not all of them are action movies. Ranking higher than Ritchson's Runner and having also been released on digital on October 13 are movies like the Michael Fassbender R-rated sci-fi thriller Hope, in 6th, the horror comedy Buddy, in 4th, and the Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock fantasy sequel Practical Magic 2, in 2nd. Leading the chart is Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has become the 3rd highest-grossing movie of all time with over $2.5 billion so far. That said, Ritchson's action thriller, Runner, has left behind many movies on the chart, such as Coyote vs. Acme, Obsession, Disclosure Day, The Accountant², and more. What Is Next For Alan Ritchson After Runner? Ritchson continues to be an in-demand star as Runner starts a successful run on digital. The actor has at least another two seasons of Prime Video's Reacher ahead of him, and given how popular the show is and how there are 30 Jack Reacher novels to pull from, the action thriller series should continue well beyond its confirmed seasons. In terms of movies, Netflix is developing a heist thriller with Ritchson set in the MotoGP world, as well as a sequel to War Machine. Ritchson's Christmas action comedy, The Man with the Bag, will arrive on Prime Video on December 2. After that, the Reacher star has an untitled Mike Thornton biopic on his schedule, playing the title retired Navy SEAL. Runner's success on digital could carry Ritchson into his upcoming Christmas action movie.
