(Photo: X)US President Donald Trump may not have been on the ballot, but he certainly found himself in the middle of the internet’s election-night meme fest. After Democrats swept both chambers of Congress in the 2026 US midterm elections, social media users wasted little time turning the Republican setback into a stream of memes, AI-generated clips and throwback images mocking the party’s defeat. The Democrats’ victory marks a major shift in Washington. The party flipped several Republican-held Senate seats, including in Texas, Kansas, Iowa and South Carolina, and secured control of the House of Representatives as well. The results give Democrats control of both chambers for the remainder of Trump’s term, setting up a new phase of political pushback against his administration. But while the political implications of the results are still sinking in, the internet has already found plenty to say about them. The hashtag #BlueTsunami began doing the rounds as users described the scale of the Democratic victory as more than just a blue wave. One post summed up the mood with the line, “That was not a Blue Wave, that is a Blue TSUNAMI.” Another declared, “BLUENAMI incoming, MAGA RIP.” Some of the memes took direct aim at Trump’s immigration policies. One viral post joked, “Looks like America is trying to deport Trump's majority,” turning the President’s hardline stance on deportations into a punchline after the Republican losses.See the memes:Trump all year heading into the midterms be like.. https://t.co/ptc4nYCq34— Igor Schatz (@Copernicus2013) November 3, 2026*Donald Trump loses Midterms elections* H-1B visa workers: https://t.co/Vr1xW5AtGS— Pakchikpak Raja Babu (@HaramiParindey) November 4, 2026Trump After losing Mid Term https://t.co/zl0xvEUbaK— Garima (@Garima) November 4, 2026Trump became the Republican President who lost both the Senate seat and the governorship in Texas As of now Tramp loding.. #USElections | #NZvsIND | #BigBoss20 ||Trump | Democrats #Midterms2026 https://t.co/kVQRz4fzkt— W Of (@WisdomofBharat1) November 4, 2026@DakdaR22 #Blunami #trump #epstein #midterms https://t.co/TJ0sPnchvD— denis (@DeBaule2026) November 4, 2026Another widely shared visual, posted by the Embassy of Iran in India, showed four men lifting Trump and dumping him into a bin labelled ‘hazardous waste’. The accompanying caption simply read, “The U.S. midterm elections.” The image quickly became part of the online pile-on.Trump, meanwhile, said he was willing to accept the election outcome and work with Democrats. He also sought to distance himself from the Republican defeat, arguing that he had not been on the ballot and would have won by a landslide had he contested the election. That has done little to slow the meme-making. With Democrats taking control of Congress, the political fallout may take months to unfold. The internet, however, has wasted no time delivering its verdict – one meme at a time.- Ends
